It has been FAR too long! After weeks of reading either (1) nothing or (2) books that I didn’t love, I have finally gotten my book reading mojo back! This is the first week in forever that I felt like I had enough momentum to need to organize my books and participate in WWW Wednesday. Thanks, as always, to Sam at Taking on a World of Words for hosting this meme.
What did you recently finish reading?
I had every intention of waiting for all three parts of Penny Reid’s new Laws of Physics to be published before I started Motion but I was traveling and became desperate and downloaded it in the middle of the night. I wish I had waited – this book is just the first third of the story and it is supposed to have a cliffhanger at the end but it just kind of stopped. It felt like reading a very long free preview from Amazon.
I also listened to two audiobooks: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson and A New Hope: The Princess, The Scoundrel and the Farm Boy by Alexandra Bracken. Manson’s book made a couple of good points but fell short of a book I would recommend widely but A New Hope was the spark that exploded me back into my reading. You can see my full review here.
I also read Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller which is the second in this series. Both of these books are fun and interesting and I am looking forward to the third book being published. I need to post my review but I have such a hard time reviewing incomplete series without
As you can see, it has been a ridiculously slow month of reading for me. During this time I picked up and DNFed so many books – I just couldn’t seem to finish anything! I put them all back on my TBR because I knew that it wasn’t the books, it was me. I tried everything – even ruining my buying ban – to snap out of it. Life has been chaos here and my brain just wouldn’t let me relax enough to read. Perhaps it is the precious few sunny days we are having here or the proximity of actual Spring, but I am feeling calmer and my reading has come back to life. THANK GOD.
What are you currently reading?
Now see? This big old load of books brings me joy. Two weeks ago I would have given them the side eye and felt overwhelmed but now I just feel surrounded by possible friends.
I am nearly finished with The Field Guide to the North American Teenager and about a third of the way through The Wonderling. I recently started Truly Devious as an audiobook, Good Omens on my Kindle and One Day in December as a physical copy. All of them together are balancing out to bring me joy!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’ve had this book for quite some time on my shelf and just looking at it makes me feel happy and inspired. I’m going to crack into it this weekend and earn some badges.
Tell me, please!
What’s on your WWW list?
I am tempted by One Day in December and Truly Devious. Enjoy! Here’s MY WWW POST

I’ve been having that lately too, my brain is too preoccupied with other things to really enjoy or be able to focus on reading. I hate that! I’m glad you’re feeling calmer!!

It was annoying to not be able to transport myself away through stories. I hope the calm finds you soon!

Glad to hear you got your reading mojo back! I too felt meh about The Subtle Art. It made me laugh a bit at the beginning but then the author kinda got under my skin. I hope you are enjoying all your current reads! I will be reading Good Omens for a book club to get us excited for the new Amazon series. I’m honestly so disappointed in myself for not having read (or even having a copy of) Good Omens. I’m such a big fan of both authors it feels like I should have grabbed one ages ago. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on it.

I completely felt the same. Just imagine my embarrassment that I didn’t even know it existed until recently. It is SO good. I hope you get your hands on a copy soon!

I actually started One Day in December back in January, but my library loan expired with 40% left to go in the book. I just got notified today that it’s mine again!
You have so many great books on your list. Happy reading 😊

Nooooo!!! The library took back one of my audiobooks 90% finished and by the time it was mine again I had completely lost the momentum of the story. I hope you can get right back into it! Can’t wait to see what you’re reading.

I am! I am so deeply into anything Neil Gaiman has written and this one is so delightfully weird.

Delightfully weird is an excellent way to describe it, and it will only get weirder. Enjoy!

Oooh, lots of good books here. I’ve been wanting to read Daughter of the Pirate King. Just haven’t quite gotten to it yet. I started Manson’s book, but set it aside, too, for the reason you said. There were some good points, but mostly, it felt like common sense to me. I guess maybe I’m just already an expert on having no effs left to give? Think I can use that on my resume? xD
I intend to read Good Omens in a couple of weeks! I’ve had it for a while now, and I always meant to get to it, but I’ll be doing a buddy read of it soon. :3 I expect it’ll be great, because how could it not be?!

You should totally put that on your resume!! Hah! The only think Manson said that stuck with me was that people know what they want, they just don’t know what they are willing to sacrifice to get it. And, for a lot of people, this really gets in their way.
Daughter of a Pirate King is cute and I really enjoy the series! Its not Earth shattering but it has excellent characters.
Good Omens is amazing. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts!
