Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and is alive and well at Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to view. I plan on spending a chunk of today blog hopping and discovering new books so I would love to see what everyone is reading!
What Did You Recently Finish Reading?
I had a wonderful time finally understanding how to successfully use my bullet journal thanks to Dot Journaling, A Practical Guide. If you have ever been interested in bullet journaling but you were either overwhelmed or confused, this book is a fantastic way to begin! You can read my full review here.
I also finished the pulse pounding thriller, The President is Missing. My full review is here. It wasn’t at all what I expected and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Finally, I read The Power by Naomi Alderman. Many people are referring to this as the Handmaid’s Tale for men and while it included some fascinating ideas, overall I had some major problems with the book. Foremost, I would like to believe that if women were the more physically powerful gender we wouldn’t quickly turn into the worst version of men. Still, it is one of those books that is perfect to discuss with other readers. I don’t regret reading it but I don’t think that I will be reviewing it here.
What am I Currently Reading
The only two books I am counting as “currently reading” this week are Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy and Hamlet. I would really like to get these both into my “finished” pile so I am going to focus on them.
What Will I Read Next
These are all stories that have landed in my Kindle this week due to some over-zealous requesting. I will probably start The Vanishing Stair today because it is an audiobook. Otherwise, if anyone has any tips on the other books I would love them!
Tell me, please!
What’s on your WWW?
I felt the same way about The Power – was really disappointed. I thought the author had a great opportunity to make women better when they had the power but I guess whoever has the power will abuse it.

Sorry for this long delay in responding but YES, I absolutely agree!! Basically, the book just shows that having physical strength taints the gender completely. It could have been so wonderful.

Oh I picked up the power in a charity shop today- that must be why it was in pristine condition!! At least it was only £1!

I’m so glad you got a bargain! It had some really great moments and made some good points but I just didn’t like the turn it took. Others have loved it through and through though!

Sadly, my recent traveling means that I had to give it back to the library. I was really interested though so I put myself right back on the wish list.

The Power seems to be a pretty polarizing read, though lately I’ve been hearing more about disappointment with it than enjoyment. It’s making me want to check it out sooner even more, at any rate. Have a great week!

I couldn’t agree more with the polarization of the book – some people seem baffled that I didn’t love it! More importantly, it is great fun to discuss.

I do journal. Sometimes I laugh to think of what my children are going to discover when I am gone. Dozens of journals on every surface of this lovely old huge house and each journal has at least ten or fewer pages written upon. My favorite is the one that starts with the birth of our son and five pages later details his first weeks at college. They are all like that. Taken all together there is about one complete journal. Thank goodness all 4 of our children are mentioned in some book…I hope. I will check this out. Maybe this is the format I need. NO! What I need is someone to carry my journals from location to location. Shove an appropriate journal in front of me complete with a pencil so I can record a magic moment in someone else life. Oh dear, i sense hostility to journaling. Maybe the dots won’t help!
I don’t have this problem with my painting and sketching journals. Hum?? Is there a message about about priorities? I always know where they are to be found. The children are…somewhere else journaling about their Mother. :+)
