What Are You Currently Reading?
I’m trying desperately to maintain some semblance of control as moving week is next week so I am reverting to my tried-and-true four book policy.
I’m listening to A Man Called Ove as an audiobook. It is as wonderful as everyone promised. I am about 80% through and loving it.
I am still only a few chapters into Dragonwatch, Wrath of the Dragon King because I couldn’t remember what happened in the previous book. Now I am ready to sit down and enjoy the story.
I started English Grammar: 100 Tragically Common Mistakes and How to Fix Them this week. It is a short nonfiction work with each grammatical error on a single page. I think it will be a quick read.
Finally, I have Parental Guidance on my kindle. Thankfully I selected this one yesterday since my fire alarms went off at 2:00 and 3:00 this morning. I got quite a bit of this one read in the small hours of this morning! It is setting up to be a sweet reluctant lovers contemporary romance.
What Did I Recently Finish Reading?
I finished both The Extraordinary Series by Mary Frame and Artemis Fowl, The Eternity Code. Mary Frame’s contemporary romance series was fine but I was consumed by the third book in the Artemis Fowl series. This book has some serious excitement and humor in it and kept me entertained the entire time. I cannot wait to listen the next book.
What Will I Read Next?
I still need to start and finish Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry to round out my middle grade required reading for the summer. I’ll be interested to see how differently I view this book as an adult than when I read it last.

Its a weird little system that works for me – 1 fiction, 1 nonfiction, 1 on my kindle and 1 as an audiobook. I think the different formats aids me in keeping it all straight.

Oooh, that really depends. I am decently new to audiobooks so I am picky there. It has to be an exceptionally good narrator. These are great for when I am working out, cleaning the house, walking my dog or doing a terrible commute.
Meanwhile, my ebooks are what I like to read at night in bed. I have some trouble with insomnia and for some reason, the glow of my kindle doesn’t keep me up as long as a physical book.
In the end, my physical books are my best friends and I have been known to buy a physical copy of an audiobook or ebook that I loved.

Four books is showing impressive restraint. Good luck with your move! I’m so glad you’re liking A Man Called Ove. I highly recommend Fredrik Backman’s My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, if you’re looking for something in a similar vein by that some author. It’s equally as beautiful and emotional, with quirky, fun characters.

Thank you for the recommendation! I wanted to read My Grandmother anyway but you’ve bumped it to the top of my list. Ove is going to be hard to beat… I just can’t stop thinking about how much I love that character!

Oooh, I hope you love it, or I’ll be a liar. xD I really liked Ove, but “Grandmother” is one of my all-time favorite books. I will warn that it hits aaaaall the feels. I’m not a huge crier, and it had me ugly crying in some places. Could’ve just been me because I was also close to my grandmother and lost her so I really related to Elsa, but my gosh, it’s beautiful and funny at the same time.

Oh goodness, thank you for the heads up! I just stood at my kitchen counter and cried happy tears at Ove. I may need to get the rest of the feelings out with Grandmother. Looking forward to it!

ive read only one book by Backman – Beartown. Enjoyed it a lot so would be interested to read other material by him and a lot of people seem to enjoy A Man Called Ove

I literally just finished One five minutes ago and I cannot recommend it enough. I clapped, I cried, I cheered…it was wonderful.

I highly recommend listening to the audiobooks – the narrator does an amazing job with all the different lovely accents. I am trying to finish them before the movie premieres!

I read Roll of Thunder a few years ago while reading through the Newbery list. Loved it! It’s such an emotional read.

I know! I was a volunteer on a mock trial team and now I cannot remember which is part of the book and which was part of the fake mock trial. I do remember it confusing me at points so I’ll be interested in seeing how it goes as an adult.

Yes to the re-read! Or re-listen because the audiobooks are wonderful. With the movie coming out I am going back through the series and making sure I hit them all…I feel like I skipped one someone here or there.
Ove is really wonderful. It was everything everyone promised me and more.

Oh my, Ove was shockingly good. Great characters, wonderful plot and a lovely slow burn. I clapped, I cried, I cheered. A full review is coming but it has gone directly to my favorite book shelf.

I keep hearing about Backman, but haven’t read any of his work yet. This will bump him further up on my list.
I recently finished Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire by John August. I’m currently reading So Young, Brave, and Handsome by Leif Enger. Next I’ll probably reread The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by CS Lewis.
