It’s time for WWW Wednesday! This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. It’s simple. Just answer three questions and leave a link to your own WWW post or a feel free to comment with your responses. The best part is visiting other participants to see what they are reading. My poor overflowing TBR…
What Did I Just Finish Reading?
It is sad, but true. Illuminae is the only book that shifted into the finished pile this week. What everyone said is true though: this book is excellent. I listened the the audio and had a physical copy and felt totally spoiled. The editing on this book is stunning. And the full cast audio was such a treat. I have been listening while working out and I got a lot of extra meters on the rowing machine due to the suspenseful final hours of this story. And then I returned to the book to re-read certain sections. Whew.
What am I Currently Reading?
I am still working my way through the meticulously detailed The Art and Science of Hand Reading. This one will probably be on my currently-reading list for months.
Of course, I immediately started Gemina, the second the The Illuminae Files series. I feel fortunate that the library had an audio copy available so I am able to continue listening and reading in tandem.
I also downloaded The Dugout on my kindle. Apparently, I accidentally signed up for Kindle Unlimited for a month and so I am taking full advantage of the service. I had read Meghan Quinn work before so I downloaded this in the middle of the night. The cover is….unfortunate. I’m half way through the story and, so far, the combination of a strong female competing in a male-dominated field and a sweet guy is in direct discord with the pink monstrosity that is that cover.
I did put Furyborn back onto the TBR pile. It looks like it will be a wonderful story but I am not in the mood for another magical princess in hiding.
What Will I Read Next?
As I put away the sequels for September I start to plan for my Frightening Good Reads. Every year I spend October reading spooky, suspenseful, and scary stories for the month of October. Halloween is my favorite holiday and reading these thematic books helps me relish every moment of the month. If you want to join, you can read the plan here. It is so simple and is more of a social event so, if you enjoy these kind of stories, join for some Frightening Good Fun!
Tell me, please!

It is such a great idea to read spooky, suspenseful, and scary stories in October. Very suitable for the autumn! I’ve never read Frankenstein, but I definitely mean to. Will you write a review?

I will! I vowed to only write positive reviews of books but the longer I blog the more I realize that “positive” is a gigantic shade of grey. I still don’t write about books I despise but I cannot imagine Frankenstein falling into that category. Either way, most of October is more like a social event for me culminating in Halloween (best.holiday.ever).

I’m so glad you loved Illuminae. ❤ I can't wait to see what you think of the next two! Now that I've finished (and loved) the entire series, I'm just living vicariously through others who are experiencing it for the first time. xD
Also, I'm loving the idea of Frightening Good Reads, and I plan to join, but not until next week because I'm a slacker. :3 I'm so in the mood for all these creepy reads, though!
Here's my WWW post.

There is no slacking in FGR, only joining! Do what you can and enjoy the whole month of October. I’ll be glad at whatever level you can participate!

The hand reading book looks so interesting! I wish you could read mine! LOL! Your Halloween-y books look awesome – they’re both books I’ve been meaning to read forever, especially Frankenstein!

I am obsessed with staring at people’s hands now.
I can’t wait to read Frankenstein either! I cannot believe I have gotten this far in life without reading it. Have a great week!

Is this your first time reading Frankenstein? It’s one of my favourite novels. I hope you enjoy it too, regardless.
There’s been so much talk of Halloween that I was thrown by The Dugout in your Currently Reading section lol Couldn’t help thinking “That doesn’t look very scary,” but to be fair it is not October just yet.
I hope you have a great week!

Hah! The Dugout’s cover was, admittedly, a bit scary. It looked like a 1980’s dream board. The story was very cute though and perfect for the hours I spend awake at night.
It is my first time reading Frankenstein! There was some drama about reading it when I was in high school and it was taken off the curriculum and then I just forgot about it (how is that possible?!?)

I hope you enjoy reading it. I’ll never forget when I discovered just how different the book is from the iconic film, which had such a huge impact on our culture’s general understanding of the story.
