WWW Wednesday: July 8, 2020

WWW Wednesday was last hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and has found a new home with Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. Don’t forget to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

This weekend I looked at my toppling pile of currently reading and vowed to not add more until at least one was completed! I managed to finish two books this week so, of course, I reached onto my shelf and immediately replaced them.

I loved Wayside School when I was a kid. I started the new book in the series a few weeks ago until I lost it in the abyss that is my current book “organization”. I started it back up this morning and I will finish it quickly. It is just as silly and humorous as the originals and I’m glad to be back in the sideways school.

I am also still working through The Pen Commandments and The Poison Squad. Both are great and I’m loving having so much nonfiction in my life right now.

I also started Undefeated by Steve Sheinkin. Jim Thorpe’s biography was the first one I ever read as a child and I cannot wait to read more about this amazing athlete.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I finished two books this week. That doesn’t sound like much but I also managed to write reviews for them both. That’s right! I have been so terrible about reviewing books for weeks (months) now and I vowed to get myself organized this week.

If At Birth You Don’t Succeed: My Adventures with Disaster and Destiny by Zach Anner was a hilarious memoire but one of my favorite comedians. My full review will be up Friday for nonfiction Friday but let me just say, I laughed so hard I choked.

I also finished Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and thoroughly enjoyed it. My full review is here.

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

I will certainly start reading the next in the Aurora Cycle series with Aurora Burning. I’m really enjoying sci-fi right now and so The Razor is looking promising. Similarly, I need all the nonfiction in my life that I can so I have Thank You for Arguing cued up.

Tell me, please!

What’s on your WWW?

    1. It is not grabbing me as quickly as The Poisoners Handbook but I have faith in the author! It will make you very happy for quality control and federal agencies…..calf brains in milk etc.

    1. Stupid work! The only silver lining to the continued shut down of things around me is this is the first summer of my adult life where staying inside and reading was a good thing. I hope you get time soon to do the same!

    1. That book was so hard to review! Usually all the little things you like about a book build up to a lovely review. But, oh no, not this one! And still, I just really liked it! I hope you do as well and I really cannot wait to crack into the second book (and start lamenting that the third one isn’t out yet).

  1. haha I see you have the same problem as me and you’re reading too many books right now! I keep seeing everyone loves Aurora Rising and I’m wondering if I should check it out but then again I already own so many books desperate to be read!
