WWW Wednesday: July 22, 2020

WWW Wednesday was last hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and has found a new home with Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. Don’t forget to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

Well, I managed to get nothing read this week and yet I still managed to add another book to my currently reading. I’m listening to Code Girls as an audiobook and, at least, I am actually listening to it! I can’t seem to crack past my 100 page minimum on books….I don’t quit reading, I just add another one to the pile. This is mood reading taken to 11 everyone.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Nothing! A great big nada!

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

tokillamockingbird

I still plan on starting To Kill a Mockingbird but I really (seriously) need to stop opening new books and finishing nothing.

Tell me, please!

Any tips on getting over their weird reading slump?

  1. I went through a weird slump like that a few months ago so I know how you feel. I got out of it by just like you by trying different books until something hooked me and it did. I also spent a lot of time watching funny YouTube videos and listening to upbeat music which really lightened my mood. Hope it helps xx

  2. Ooh I LOVED Code Girls! It was such a great read. Excited to hear what you think of it. You were on my mind because I read and loved Notes on a Nervous Planet – it was EXACTLY what I needed to read right now. I keep returning to quotes from it in my head. Such a helpful, thoughtful book. Thank you for that recommendation!!

    1. I am so pleased that you liked it!! And Code Girls is amazing (1000 times amazing). I’m going to need some recommendations from you about women spies pretty soon – I sense a new nonfiction infatuation! Thanks again!

      1. Isn’t it such a fabulous book? I only really have one other woman spy rec off the top of my head, A Woman of No Importance, about Virginia Hall, an American spy who worked with the French resistance. Her story is incredible and the book is phenomenally written. Strangely, as much as I love certain spy books like that one I don’t really gravitate towards them in general so haven’t read that many. Code Name Madeleine: A Sufi Spy in Nazi-Occupied Paris about Noor Inayat Khan is the other one I want to read at some point though. I want to hear all your recommendations when you find good ones!! If there’s anything on the level of Code Girls I need it in my life.

      2. I have a copy of a Woman of No Importance sitting on my shelf! I also managed to pick up D-Day girls and The Atomic City Girls but I will have to see our Code Name Madeleine. Thanks, as always, for the amazing recommendations!
