I re-read my illustrated version of The Princess Bride this year and Buttercup and Wesley bring me almost as much joy as Inigo and Fezzik.

Technically there is another book coming in the series, but not until next year! This middle grade trilogy brought me loads of joy and armchair adventure. I loved the characters, the friendships, the world – everything!

The only flaw with this series, in my opinion, is that they haven’t released the new cover of the sixth book yet! I have only read the first four, the fifth one is ready on my kindle as I type, and I can hardly wait. If you enjoyed the Netflix movie, you will love this whole series. I cannot wait to read them all again.

Lilith, the witch that curses Prince Rhen and tortures everyone in his inner circle, is the absolute worst. I read this A Curse so Dark and Lonely and immediately picked up A Heart so Fierce and Broken. I can hardly wait for the third installment.

Jess Kidd’s Things in Jars is just the most awesome, weird, wonderful book. The strange mix of historical fiction and fantasy took hold of me and held on to the last word.

I really thought The One and Only Ivan was pretty impossible to top but I loved The One and Only Bob so much. In this book the animal sidekick becomes the true hero.
ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME / EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING! MILK IS SO 18TH CENTURY! WHICH BOOK OR SERIES TAKES BEVERAGES/FOOD TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL?
A Place at the Table wasn’t just a great book about how to make and keep friends during middle grade, it was a veritable feast of foods that I wanted to have immediately. Do not read this book without ready access to excellent food because my frozen naan just didn’t cut it.
ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME / NINE LADIES DANCING! DANCING IS JUST ONE SKILL OF A LADY! WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE KICKASS FEMALE LEAD?
Georgie has everything I want in a protagonist. She is determined, honest, smart, can admit when she is wrong, and happens to be the best shot with a rifle anyone knows. One Came Home was the middle grade, historical fiction mystery, that I just cannot stop thinking about.

I had never read David Copperfield until this year but the young David won me over and every year he grew and my love and admiration for him did the same.

Daisy Jones & the Six is the book that I thought I would hate because it was so hyped but it was what everyone said it would be – unforgettable.

I resisted Daisy thinking it was over hyped but it was excellent. The audiobook is full cast and I highly recommend it!
