Thanks, as always to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and this wonderful WWW post to keep me semi-organized. If you want to join me, just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to admire. Don’t forgt to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!
WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?
I am still listening to the audiobook of The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. I am about 75% of the way through the audiobook and, even though I have a bunch on my calendar this week, I love stealing away for a chapter or two.
I have just added The In-Between by Rebecca K.S. Ansari to my currently reading pile. I just love middle grade books – they have a way of taking me away.
WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?
So far, so good! Reading with Joy has been working for me this month. I finished Dare to Lead by Brené Brown as an audiobook. I was surprised by how applicable her advice and research were to many different areas of my life beyond the traditional workplace leadership. I hope to have a review up this week as I genuinely loved the book but I am struggling a bit to synthesize the audiobook version.
This weekend I sat down with two strong and inspirational women, Malala and Dolly. I am Malala is a book that I should have read years ago but I’m not sure I would have appreciated quite as much and I did now. I had some knowledge of Pakistan and India’s history through the historical fiction book The Night Diary and Malala’s description of her home, religion, and culture helped me understand how the Taliban was able to grab power. My full review is here.
I also had the absolute best time working through Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics. My full review is here but, the weekend I spent with Dolly through this book was so wonderful. I can’t recommend it enough.
Finally, I finished The Atomic City Girls this morning. This was a historical fiction look at the many women who went to work on the Atomic Bomb without ever knowing what they were doing. It was such an interesting and broad look at the history and I hope to find a non-fiction book to accompany what I learned in this book. I hope to have this review up soon too!
WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?
After the collapse of my reading and writing in February I am determined to not over-plan. I will pick something that brings me joy!
Tell me, please! What’s on your WWW?
The In-Between looks really good. I haven’t read middle grade in so long and there’s so many interesting MG’s I want to try. I hope you enjoy it!

Middle Grade has changed so much in recent years and I credit it with helping me through this whole last year.
