WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

I need to just sit down and finish Witches: The Absolute True Tale of Disaster in Salem already. It is a short book but I found myself distracted by a good many other wonderful ones this week!

I am half way through Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost which I am loving. I have never read it but I had seen the movie with Patrick Stewart as the Ghost and it is easy to picture him when I read this book. This story is shockingly funny at times. The ghost is just too dear!

I’ve also started listening to The Winterhouse by Ben Guterson and I am approximately 25-30% of the way into the story. This mystery begins with 11 year old Elizabeth being sent on a paid for vacation by herself to Winterhouse. Elizabeth is a puzzle aficionado and wordsmith and Winterhouse is perfect for her – or is there more than meets the eye?

Finally, in an attempt to continue my momentum coming off of David Copperfield I am going to re-read The Canterbury Tales. Is may not entirely be a Frighteningly Good Read but, through the years, I found that reading only “spooky” books takes away a bit of the fun.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I finished David Copperfield! This was a great story and I enjoyed it tremendously. I am going to treat myself to the new movie staring Dev Patel on Friday. I didn’t review the book but I did give some tips and tricks that helped me get through this massive book. Those can be found here.

I also picked up How They Croaked: The Awful Ends of the Awfully Famous by Georgia Bragg last week from the library. I picked it up rather impulsively and read it obsessively. This middle grade non-fiction was awesome and I found myself gasping aloud and calling friends to say, “Can you believe this?!?”

I’ve struggled with insomnia this week. As usual, my trusty kindle was there for me. Sadly, one of my favorite contemporary romance author’s story The Bachelor Club wasn’t great. Lovely female lead, wretch of a male and the motivation of the characters was missing. I don’t plan to review it.

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

October is flying past me and I need to read more, more, more!!! I want to read all of the books on my FGR reading list even though I know it won’t happen. One of these will absolutely be next though!
