WWW Wednesday: January 21, 2021

WWW Wednesday is the post I look forward to every week and it is the last one of the year! Thanks, as always to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and this wonderful WWW post to keep me going. If you want to join me, just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to admire. Don’t forget to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

I am listening to Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi as an audiobook loan from my library. I have had a beautiful copy of this book on my shelf forever and I had intended to just listen long enough to get into the story but I am loving this audio version. I may just listen all the way to the end!

Why She Wrote is an ARC and I was totally wrong about it not being a graphic novel. Each section is on a different important female author and begins with a one-page introduction and then several pages of graphic novel story on one portion of their lives. I am nearly half way through and loving it.

I am still working on The History of Sweets and the book has started to settle down a bit in terms of formatting. I am still struggling with it but I am determined to see it through before passing total judgement.

I started a physical copy of The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey. I have had this book on my physical TBR shelves for too long. I pulled it off and was immediately sucked into the story of young Alfred and a burglary gone-wrong.

I would like to thank my neighbors for throwing a series of all-night parties that had me up and reading long into the night. At least it wasn’t regular insomnia! I started both American Royals by Katharine McGee and Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg, PhD in the wee hours of the morning. I have tipped out of my 4-at-a-time promise but maintained a small measure of sanity. Both books are amazing and I will circle back to the other books when I can.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I finished Midnight Sun this week. If you enjoyed the Twilight books you will probably also enjoy this one. My full review is here but the short version is that it was fun, ridiculous, and a complete retelling of the first book but from Edwards perspective.

I also finished When Stars are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed this morning and….wow. It is, hands down, one of the best middle grade graphic novels I have ever read. I cannot wait to review this book.

Finally, I finished Thank You for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs. It was stuffed full of interesting facts about rhetoric but by page 100 I great to really hate the style of writing and the massive inclusion of anecdotes. I won’t be reviewing this one here.

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

This poor book is still here!

Tell me, please! What’s on your WWW?

  1. Oh, I was under the impression Midnight Sun was a proper sequel. I had thought the whole “first book told from Edward’s perspective” came out like a decade ago.
