WWW Wednesday: January 27, 2021

WWW Wednesday is the post I look forward to every week. I am really struggling to find time to review this past week (or two) and WWW always brings me back to the ‘ol blog. Thanks, as always to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and this wonderful WWW post to keep me going. If you want to join me, just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to admire. Don’t forget to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

Why She Wrote continues! I am nearly finished with it and really enjoying this stories and the women featured.

I am still working on The History of Sweets. Honestly, I was ready to admit defeat when I arrived at the chapter on poisonous sweets and the history of additives to our candy. Oooooh, poison! This book might win me over yet!

I am nearly half way through The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey. I just want to adopt Alfred and keep him forever. This adventure book is a bit bizarre but I am loving how the story centers around Excalibur.

I am nearly 10% into Tiny Habits. Nothing new here habit-wise except BJ Fogg has named everything in the book after himself. Cue: eyeroll. I love habits enough to keep going but I am hoping for new tips and tricks soon!

I also picked up an e-copy of A Rogue of One’s Own by Evie Dunmore. I am loving this historical fiction / romance that shines a light on the struggles of women in history. This is book #2 in the League of Extraordinary Women series but, so far, I haven’t had any trouble starting in the middle of the collection.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Just like with A Rogue of One’s Own I managed to pick up an Umbrella Academy book that is no where near the first in the series. Hotel Oblivion was…..good? Maybe? It was well drawn and had a story that I completely didn’t understand. This is always my problem with comic books – I never start in the right place! I am going to see if I can figure out how to put them in order but if anyone has any insight into this, please let me know!

I finished my audiobook of Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. It was excellent and certainly deserves a review (which I hope to get to eventually). I cannot wait to read the second in this series but judging by the length of time this sat on my shelf it might be a while.

I also finished American Royals! This was book one in a series reimagining America with a monarch and it was so so good. Ugh. The guilt I feel when I haven’t reviewed books is heavy this week.

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

Still here! I keep promising myself I will crack into it when I finish Sweets but I just need to clear a space for this book in my mind and get going already!

Tell me, please! What’s on your WWW?

  1. Ooooh, The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp sounds really good! Excalibur, you say? Hmmm. I think that one’s definitely going to have to go on my TBR!

So glad to see that you enjoyed The Gilded Wolves! I thought Silvered Serpents was even BETTER, so you should definitely not let it languish for too long on your shelf. 😉 Happy reading!

    Here’s my WWW post.

  3. I don’t know most of the books on your list but I keep getting stuck on the cover of A Rogue of one’s own because is it just me or does that dude look like David Tennant as the 10th doctor? Maybe it’s just the hairstyle. I don’t know why, it’s just so funny to me! 😀
