WWW Wednesday: August 11, 2021

A bigger thanks than usual goes to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. Sam has just had a baby and still got her post up so we could all gather together and share our WWWs. Meanwhile, my excuse for not posting is that I’m just a little…..to hot? August is the grossest.

If you want to join in the fun, just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to admire. Don’t forgt to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?

Big thanks to the library for giving me back Hamnet. I am roughly 60% of the way through and while I am fascinated by the story I am struggling to listen to this story of the plague while the Delta rears its ugly head.

So, I balance that out with a lovely middle grade book. Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye has been on my shelves for far too long. I just love the format of this story and, within a few chapters, I am loving Warren.

I also started listening to the full cast performance of The Hobbit this weekend. At only 4 hours long I am not sure it counts as a re-read but it is great fun.

WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?

This past weekend was Dewey’s Reverse Read-a-thon and I shut off my electronic devices, set out a ridiculous amount of snacks and got to reading. I flipped back and forth between these two books and both were fantastic.

The Power of Ritual reminded me of the grounding nature of repetitive and mindful celebrations. This book was clearly written for a pre-pandemic world but the skills and practices were so applicable. I was so inspired by some of the authors tips that I went out of the city this weekend for a hike in the forrest (or what counts as forrest in the suburbs of Chicago) while listening to the Hobbit. I want to work my way through the book again looking for purpose in my schedule and, perhaps, scheduling things with more joy in them.

I am tore through The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. Holy moly did this book draw me in. Perhaps it was the poo joke right on the first page or the building tension but I could not put this one down until I was finish. Holy cliffhanger! I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?

I have no idea! I am still enjoying the year of Joyful reading!

Tell me, please! What’s on your WWW?
