Thanks, as always, to Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. August is still gross but the nastier the weather the more time to hide inside my house and read.
If you want to join in the fun, just answer the three questions below about how your reading is going this week and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to admire. Don’t forgt to check all the other participants. It is the #1 way I keep my TBR overflowing!
WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING?
WHAT DID I RECENTLY FINISH READING?
I finished listening to the cast recording of the Hobbit. I first read this books years ago. This recording was only 4 hours long so not precisely a re-read but certainly delightful.
I also finished Hamnet. This book is gorgeously written. And now I have a very different image of William Shakespeare. But this book was so sad and, perhaps, not something I was prepared to experience while living through another wave of COVID. If you are interested, the audiobooks narrator is truly talented and a delight to listen to which made the sad moments all the more heartbreaking.
WHAT WILL I READ NEXT?
I have no idea! I am still enjoying the year of Joyful reading!
Tell me, please! What’s on your WWW?
Aw The Hobbit, its been years since I read that! Always a fun read~

Me too but it had something in it that made me too sad. I blame the pandemic!

I just love that time in between finishing a book and picking another. The whole minute and a half is thrilling. Hah! Happy Reading!

Hamnet is on my TBR List as well. I’ve always wanted to read J.R.R. Tolkien, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Currently, I’m reading She Who Would Become the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan and The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honorée Fanonne Jeffers.
I talk about each book more in my WWW post here:

Ryan @ Muse With Me got me through the LOTR – those books almost need a sponsor! The Hobbit is an easy intro and, honestly, the Fellowship isn’t bad. But, oh man, I struggled with the second and third books. The sense of accomplishment when I finished was worth it!

I bought my sister Hamnet for Christmas and was only 1/4 in when I had to stop reading to wrap it! Glad for the reminder to get it from the library and there is probably not as long a reserve list now.

I hope you enjoy it! It was gorgeously written but has an element that is just too much for me right now. The pandemic has made me so sensitive!
