CHRISTMAS CARD DISPLAY AND STORAGE
As the Christmas cards start to come rolling in (yeah!) I always want to do something special with them. This year, I took a wide ribbon and decorated one of my doors and I will spend the rest of the season decorating it with cards when they arrive. I got this idea from Thrify Decor Chick and I love how the whole thing turned out. Here is her door because mine is in the darkest corner of my windowless apartment and I don’t want to make you all sad.
But, I always feel a little guilty about what to do with the cards when it is all over for the year. I have tried making them into little books, re-using the cards as decoration and a few other really terrible ideas. One year I cut the cute pictures into bookmarks and I felt so guilty about it (my Catholicism shining through!).
This year I want to take the thoughtfulness and joy of Christmas and try and make it last through the year. My plan is to take the cards and hide them in the books on my physical TBR shelf. That way, I will stumble across them through the rest of the year. I am going to make a bunch of cards to keep on hand and when I find someone’s card I am going to send them one mid-year!
Tell me, please! How do you display your cards? What do you do when Christmas is over?
I don’t get as many cards as I used to so they just go on one of my bookcases. I love your idea of hiding cards in books after Christmas that sounds really fun!

Thank you! I love how people, generally, are kinder and more thoughtful during the Christmas season and I’m hoping to make that feeling last as long as I can.

I display my cards much like you do but I have a holder (after Christmas sale) and I put them there. Years ago a wonderful neighbor showed me how to cut the cards into circles. ( I use a punch now) Each circle was folded and made into a ball for next years tree. It takes 20 circles to make a ball. The directions are in you tube!
