My Big Summer Book

It is June 1st and, to me, this is absolutely the beginning of summer. My allergies certainly agree. This year I am trying something I have never done before, but have always wanted to attempt, and that is to read War and Peace. My goal is to read 1/3 of the book each of the summer months and, hopefully, be done by August 31st.

Want to know the hardest part so far? Picking out a translation! People have opinions. In the end, I went with the hard cover of Amy Mandelker’s revised and edited version of the Maude’s translation. The Oxford Press hardbound book is an absolute brick but that should make it harder for me to misplace in my bedside table stack.

The book is actually only 1320 pages so, my current plan gives me some wiggle room. What is that plan you ask? Here it is!

If all goes according to plan, I will enjoy the first 500 pages by the end of June. We shall see!

Tell me, please! Do you have any big reading plans this summer?
